WLRN Learn is a local, non-commercial, cable access channel managed and programmed as a public service of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS). The channel is carried by all cable providers in Miami-Dade County and is located on Channel 79 on most cable systems.

An integral part of WLRN’s mission is to serve the educational and cultural needs of South Florida’s many diverse residents. Viewer feedback tells us that there is an overwhelming desire from many local residents to view lifestyle programs featuring cooking, crafts and travel.  Our viewers exercise on a regular basis, watch international news, and they love intelligent talk.

“While Miami-Dade is one community, it’s also a community of many different cultures and voices,” said John LaBonia, General Manager of WLRN Public Radio and Television.

WLRN Learn provides viewers with diverse programming from Create, a channel developed by American Public Television (APT) in collaboration with Thirteen/WNET New York and WGBH Boston. Create features public television's most popular lifestyle and how-to programs including a schedule of do-it-yourself genres including viewers' favorite public television series and specials on cooking, renovating, painting, crafts, travel, gardening and other community interest programming that have been highly popular to viewers in the community.

Weekdays, Monday through Friday, viewers will also be able to watch international news from France, Germany, Spain, and England. Some of the programs include, Le Journal, BBC News, and Deutsche Welle News Journal. These daily news programs offer members of the community with international roots an opportunity to view current events from their homeland.

WLRN Learn continues to feature unique and entertaining programming from talented M-DCPS students. The channel will showcase the work of students involved in the technical and visual arts programs of the Miami-Dade school district.

Exercise buffs will still get their daily dose of Body Electric, two Yoga series, and the ever-popular low-impact exercise program Sit and Be Fit. And, alongside the exercise and news programs will be Charlie Rose and Tony Brown’s Journal, plus the introduction of a new talk-series called La Plaza featuring prominent Hispanic personalities.
